If times are hard and you are blue, think of others worrying too.
Just because your trials are many, don't think the rest of us haven't any.
Life is made up of smiles and tears.
Joys and sorrows mixed with fears.
And though to us it seems one sided, life is pretty well divided.
If we could look in every heart, we would find that each one has a part.
And those who travel the fortunate road sometimes carry the heavy load.

What Makes A Mother

What Makes a Mother?
I thought of you and closed my eyes, and prayed to God today. I asked what makes a Mother and I know I heard him say.
A mother has a baby. This we know is true. But, God, can you be a mother when your baby's not with you?
Yes, you can He replied with confidence in His voice. I give many women babies, when they leave is not their choice.
Some I send for a lifetime, and others for a day. And some I send to fill your womb, but there's no need to stay.
I just don't understand this, God. I want my baby here. He took a breath and cleared His throat, and then I saw a tear.
I wish that I could show you what your child is doing today. If you could see your child smile with other children and say:
"We go to earth to learn our lessons of love and life and fear. My mommy loved me so much that I got to come straight here.
I feel so lucky to have a mom who had so much love for me. I learned my lesson very quickly, my mommy set me free.
I miss my mommy oh so much, but I visit her each day. When she goes to sleep on her pillow is where I lay.
I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek and whisper in her ear. "Mommy don't be sad today. I'm your baby and I'm here."
So, you see my dear sweet one, your child is okay. Your baby is here in My home. She'll be at the gates for you one day.
So now you see what makes a mother, it's the feeling your heart. It's the love you had so much of...right from the start.
Though some on earth may not realize you are a mother until they're time is done. They'll be up here with Me one day and you'll know you're the best one!
ON PAIN

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And you keep your heart in wonder at the daily MIRACLEs of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy; And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.
Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility: For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen.
And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.

On Joy and Sorrow

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with tears. And how else can it be? The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.....
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in you heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.....
They are inseparable...Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.  Only when you are empty are you at a standstill and balanced.  When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall
